Before you start your back-to-back sets and next-level tricks, don’t forget to Wake Responsibly. What Does it Mean to ""Wake Responsibly""? (H2 or H3) Whether you’re a first-time boater or a seasoned driver behind the wheel, responsible boating helps keep the water safe and enjoyable for everyone. Wake Responsibly is about practicing safe, courteous, and respectful behavior on the water while helping protect shorelines, preserve access to wake sports, and create a better experience for everyone on the lake. From maintaining safe distances from docks and shorelines to operating in deeper water whenever possible, small decisions can make a big impact. Axis is committed to helping educate boaters, riders, and lake communities on responsible boating practices so future generations can continue to enjoy the lifestyle we all love.
Wake Responsibly Guidelines
Help protect the waterways and create a better experience for everyone on the lake by following a few simple responsible boating practices.
Keep Your Distance
Stay at least 200 feet away from shorelines, docks, properties, and other boats whenever possible. Giving your wake time to settle to create a more pleasant experience for everyone on the water.
Keep Your Music Respectful
Your soundtrack is part of the lake day, but it’s important to be mindful of your surroundings. Keep music at a respectful volume so everyone can enjoy their time on the water.
Choose Deep Water
Creating wakes and waves in deeper water helps reduce lakebed disturbance and improves wave performance. Avoid operating in shallow areas whenever possible.
Minimize Repetitive Passes
Repeated passes in the same area can increase shoreline impact and create unnecessary congestion. After a few runs, take a break and move to another location. Your spot will still be there when you return.
Follow Local Regulations
Every lake, river, and waterway may have different boating regulations, surf zones, operating restrictions, and quiet hours. Before heading out, take time to understand local rules, no-wake zones, and safety requirements for the area you’re riding in.
